Arcana: The Lost Library

A magical library built as a reusable framework for immersive learning

HamiltonBuhl · Room-scale VR (Unity; Oculus Rift, HTC Vive)

HamiltonBuhl wanted more than a VR demo — so the team proposed something more ambitious: a reusable framework capable of carrying many subjects over time. Arcana imagines a magical library beneath the earth whose enchanted books are gateways to knowledge itself, letting new curriculum ship as simply as adding a book to a shelf. Careful environmental choreography — a narrow bridge over an immense chasm, a torch-activated ancient lift — made a modest classroom play space feel vast. The first module put students inside the Apollo program: walking around the Lunar Module, stepping inside it, throwing objects in lunar gravity, and learning the story of NASA's Hidden Figures. Arcana became HamiltonBuhl's flagship demonstration of immersive learning.
